Spartan Pride Shines at York College’s December 2025 Commencement Ceremony on December 17

YORK, Pa. — York College of Pennsylvania will celebrate the achievements of 254 graduates during its December 2025 Commencement, held on Wednesday, December 17, at 10:15 a.m. in the M&T Bank Field House at the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center. Doors will open at 9:15 a.m.
A total of 198 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremony, including 154 undergraduates and 44 graduate students who will be earning degrees across the College’s four academic schools.
This year’s student speaker is Olivia Schenk, a Nursing major graduating this December. Additionally, Sean Umbenhouer ’91, an accomplished alumnus, will deliver remarks to the graduating class. Dr. Paul Ackerman, recipient of the Presidential Award for Teaching and Mentorship Excellence, will offer faculty reflections.
The ceremony will be livestreamed for the public.
“Commencement is always a powerful reminder of why we do what we do,” President Thomas Burns, Ph.D, said. “Our graduates have shown remarkable determination throughout their time at York College, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with them. I look forward to seeing the impact they will make as they carry their Spartan experience into their careers and communities.”
Following the ceremony, graduates and their families are encouraged to take photographs around campus, including at the iconic Ol’ Spart, affectionately known as “the Rock.” Continuing a long-standing tradition, graduates are invited to sign Ol’ Spart to commemorate their time at York College.
