Downtown York is a short bus ride from stops just a block away from the College's main campus via Rabbit Transit Route 8S and Route 9S, or a 1-mile walk from north campus via the scenic Heritage Rail Trail.

The Shop at Marketview Arts, located on the first floor just inside the main entrance, features original art for sale by the Marketview Artists (professional artists who work out of the Artists Underground studios), as well as Marketview Arts-branded merchandise and merchandise such as T-shirts and notebooks featuring designs by the Marketview Artists. The Shop also sells snacks and cold beverages and provides a comfortable, inviting atmosphere for visitors to sit and do work, chat, or just relax.

Gallery Hall at Marketview Arts is a 2,000-square-foot art gallery where exhibitions are displayed throughout the year. Past exhibitions have featured work by popular local artists as well as work by nationally- and internationally-renowned artists. Gallery Hall is available to be rented as a venue for events such as weddings, proms, performances, and presentations. The room can accommodate up to 112-120 guests seated (depending on the layout), and up to 150 guests standing. The combination of historic charm and a chic, artsy ambience makes Gallery Hall a unique and beautiful setting for any occasion.

The Anteroom is a flexible space that can be used in combination with Gallery Hall for check-in or food service, or on its own as a meeting room. The Anteroom can accommodate up to 30 standing or 10-14 with a conference-style setup.

The Classroom Lab is a multipurpose space behind the student art studios that can be used for classes, workshops, small presentations, and more. It can accommodate up to 35 guests seated.

The Shop at Marketview Arts is used as a retail space during visitor hours but can be rented during our off hours for small gatherings or receptions. This cozy space comfortably accommodates up to 30 guests standing.

The lower level of the Marketview Arts building, referred to as the Artists Underground, houses several studio spaces that are rented by local professional artists. The artists work with a variety of media, including paint, photography, and more.

MARKETVIEW ARTISTS

Jeannine Dabb (Studio B)

A visual artist and resident of York, Jeannine Dabb returned to college to study painting after 22 years as a small business owner in the medical aesthetics industry. She graduated from York College of Pennsylvania in December 2020 with a BA in Fine Art, specializing in painting and drawing. In 2019, three of her artworks were accepted into the York Art Association Forty-Ninth Annual Juried Exhibition. In February 2020 she won an Award of Distinction in Emerging Visions at Creative York, and she had her first solo show in July 2020 at The Grotto. Her work has also been featured in the York Fest Juried Show (Creative York) and the 2020 Annual Juried Student Exhibition at York College Galleries.

Rosa Luz Catterall (Studio C)

Rosa Luz Catterall is a Latino self-taught artist who was born in Peru. She holds a degree in Sociology from Queens College, New York, and is a graduate of the School of Social Work and Art Therapy Program from New York University. Presently, she divides her time as an artist and an art therapist. Rosa Luz works on commissions and community art projects from her studio in Marketview Arts. As an art therapist, she works as an independent contractor throughout York and Dauphin County with a diverse age population, utilizing a client-centered modality.

Washington Winnona Images (Studio D)

Washington Winnona Images, co-owned by Miles Murdaugh and Francisco Soto, is a professional photography and videography company that produces low-cost, high-quality images and video-capturing events, sports, and entertainment. They have also produced a documentary film and do freelance photography. The company was named a 2019 Bloom Business Grant Finalist, is credentialed as a Getty Images IStock Contributor, and has an FAA Part 107 commercial drone license that allowed them to conduct hundreds of flights for multiple projects. In 2020, they received an honorable mention in the Yorkfest Adult Juried Exhibition and were finalists for the York Cultural Alliance Artist Innovator Award. Their most recent work includes the exhibition Through Our Lens: I Can’t Breathe, exhibited at Marketview Arts and the Parliament Arts Organization.

Story Supply Co. is a design, screen print, and craft stationery manufacturer specializing in handmade leather and paper goods and shirt and poster printing.

The student art studios provide a creative workspace for the post-graduate Arts Fellows, as well as a space for undergraduate students to fine-tune their craft with guidance from community mentors. Adjacent to the studios, the Classroom Lab is a multipurpose space used for York College Fine Art classes, workshops, small exhibits, and more.

York College students in a variety of majors staff the visitor desk in the Shop at Marketview Arts. These student staff members help ensure a positive visitor experience by welcoming and greeting guests; answering questions and providing information about exhibitions, events, and other activities taking place in the building; and selling artwork and merchandise in The Shop. Students in these roles gain experience in retail sales and customer service — particularly as they relate to an arts organization — and develop skills in communication and organization.

Established in 2016, the DelliCarpini Community Art Scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming student with plans to concentrate their studies in an arts-related discipline at York College of Pennsylvania. In order to be considered for the scholarship, the incoming student must have participated as a finalist in the York Community Art Scholars Exhibition while in high school. In addition to receiving the scholarship award, the Community Art Scholar works with the leadership at Marketview Arts in supporting the College’s role in the cultural community.

Made possible through the generosity of Mr. Louis Appell, Jr., the Anne M. and Philip H. Glatfelter, III Family Foundation, and the Powder Mill Foundation, the Appell Arts Fellowship and Powder Mill Arts Fellowship are awarded annually to recent York College graduates in creative/arts-related fields. The fellowships each provide a promising early-career artist with an 11-month artist-in-residence position at Marketview Arts, where they can contribute to the growth and development of the Downtown York Arts District, refine their artistic abilities, and develop skills in curation and arts administration.
