Prepare your Accelerated Nursing Application

To be admitted to York College of Pennsylvania’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) degree program, you’ll need to either hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing discipline or have completed at least 65 college credits and the necessary prerequisite courses.

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about the ABSN admissions timeline, application requirements, and more. To apply for the second-degree nursing program at York, complete your application before February 2.

Accelerated Nursing Program Admission Requirements

Whether you have been working in your career path for years or you’re currently an undergraduate student interested in nursing education, you may be eligible to apply to York’s ABSN program. To be considered for admission to the accelerated-format Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Overall average grade point average of 3.0 or greater in their earned bachelor’s degree or current coursework
  • Completion of the prerequisite core curriculum courses with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better

Students who have failed a required nursing course or have been academically dismissed from a previously attended nursing program do not qualify for this program.

The ABSN application deadline is February 2. Applicants will be notified of their admission status by February 16

  • Students completing coursework in the fall and/or spring semester can still apply for the ABSN, submitting final official transcripts to Admissions as soon as possible
  • Successful applicants with all prerequisite criteria completed will receive an ‘immediate offer’ by February 16
  • Applicants who have pending coursework and are still under consideration for program acceptance will receive a ‘contingent offer’ by February 16, which will become a full offer once prerequisites are met
  • Incomplete applications or late submissions will not be considered

After the application deadline, the Program Director works collaboratively with the Director of Transfer Admissions to make decisions regarding each student’s acceptance into the ABSN program. Interviews will be scheduled with applicants being considered for admission.
