A computer differential charge is an additional fee applied to students enrolled in certain computer science or technology-related programs. This fee helps cover the costs of specialized software, hardware, and other technological resources required for coursework, labs, and projects. It also supports access to advanced computing facilities or IT infrastructure needed for hands-on learning experiences in fields like computer programming, cybersecurity, data science, or software engineering. The charge ensures that students have the tools and resources necessary to succeed in their technical education.

This fee is attached to a particular course and covers the first aid certification expense associated with said course.

This fee is attached to select courses to cover various essential services and resources related to the academic course. It helps ensure that the College can provide high-quality educational services and maintain the necessary facilities for an effective learning environment.

This fee is charged to students who enroll in private or group music instruction as part of their coursework. It is typically applied to courses in which students receive individualized or small-group lessons from an instructor, such as voice, piano, guitar, or other musical instruments. This fee helps cover the costs associated with providing high-quality music instruction including, but not limited to, compensation for the instructor, access to practice rooms designed for music students, and administrative costs related to scheduling and coordinating lessons

An engineering differential is an additional fee applied to all engineering students – mechanical, electrical, civil, and computer. It is used to cover the extra costs associated with specialized equipment, materials, or resources needed for engineering labs, projects, or courses that require more intensive support. The charge helps offset the increased expenses involved in delivering high-quality, hands-on engineering education.

This fee provides the student with internet access and other technology services, an email address, library services, computer labs facilities, health center services, and admission to home athletic events and College-sponsored cultural events. It also includes counseling, advising, tutoring, and other administrative services. Full-time fee includes the use of the fitness center. Part-time fee provides the use of the fitness center at a nominal per visit fee. These funds are allocated for the general purpose of the College.

This fee is charged to undergraduate students enrolled in online courses. It helps to cover the administrative and operational costs associated with delivering online education, ensuring that students have access to the necessary resources and support for a high-quality virtual learning experience. The fee typically covers access to the learning management system, technical support, administrative expenses, as well as student support services.

A hospitality differential charge is an additional fee charged to hospitality major students that covers specialized equipment or resources required for hospitality courses, such as high-quality knife sets, uniforms, or other tools needed for hands-on training. This fee helps cover the cost of these essential materials, ensuring students have access to the proper gear for their education and practical experience in the field.

This fee is charged to students for access to electronic versions of required course textbooks and other reading materials. It helps cover the cost of providing digital textbooks, which can be more affordable and accessible compared to traditional print versions. This fee covers access to e-textbooks and other digital course materials, integration of the digital book with the course content, and licensing costs required for access. The funds collected through this fee are paid to a third-party vendor responsible for providing the e-textbooks and are used for the general purpose of the College.

A Kaplan program fee on a nursing student’s account refers to a fee charged for access to Kaplan's specialized preparatory materials and resources designed to support nursing students in their academic and licensure exams. The fee ensures that nursing students have access to high-quality, comprehensive test preparation resources that help them succeed in their courses and on the NCLEX, improving their chances of becoming licensed registered nurses. The fees are collected then forwarded to Kaplan to cover the costs of the test preparation materials and services provided to students.

A malpractice insurance fee is charged to college students who are participating in off-campus clinical, fieldwork, or practicum courses, particularly in health-related programs such as nursing, medical, or social work. This fee provides the necessary coverage for students in the event of accidental harm or negligence while performing duties in a professional setting outside the college, such as hospitals, clinics, or community agencies. This fee ensures that students are appropriately protected while gaining practical experience off-campus, allowing them to focus on their learning and professional development without concerns about legal or financial risk. The funds collected through this fee are used to secure a malpractice insurance policy.

A nursing department fee is used to cover the cost of conducting criminal background checks, which are typically required before participating in clinical placements, internships, or other hands-on experiences in healthcare settings. This will ensure that students meet the safety and legal standards necessary for patient care. It also helps fund the administrative work involved in organizing and verifying background checks, including ensuring that students’ records are up to date and compliant with institutional and legal requirements. The funds collected via this fee are used to pay for said background checks as well as administrative costs of the College.

The nursing differential is an additional fee applied to all nursing students that helps cover the extra costs associated with specialized resources required for nursing education, such as clinical placements, lab equipment, simulation technology, and other hands-on training materials. The charge helps ensure students have access to the necessary tools and experiences to succeed in their nursing education and training.

This fee is charged to students who are enrolled at the College but are taking courses at an off-campus location, such as Wellspan York Hospital. This fee helps cover the administrative costs associated with coordinating these off-campus experiences and providing support services for those students.

This fee is charged to students who participate in courses offered through a consortium of institutions that collaborate to provide online learning opportunities. The consortium allows students to take courses from multiple participating colleges or universities while remaining enrolled at York College of Pennsylvania. Fees collected are used to reimburse participating institutions and to cover administrative fees.

A student teaching fee is a fee charged by colleges to students who are completing a student teaching experience as part of their teacher preparation program. This fee helps cover the costs associated with coordinating and managing the student teaching process, which involves placing students in K-12 classrooms to gain practical, hands-on teaching experience under the supervision of a licensed mentor teacher. It contributes to the cost of providing faculty and staff who oversee and support student teachers during their placements. This includes site visits, observations, feedback, and guidance from university supervisors. The fee supports the process of evaluating student teachers’ performance, including tracking their progress, completing assessments, and ensuring that all requirements are met for certification. The funds collected for this fee go to pay the mentor teacher and to cover administrative costs.
