Creating Opportunities in the Community
The York College Promise Program provides eligible graduates from York County high schools the opportunity to attend York, tuition free. Students in the program will receive enhanced support through academic advising, work-study opportunities, specialized programming, and service-based volunteerism.

The application deadline for the York College Promise Program is February 1.
York College Promise Program
The York College Promise provides several benefits to help you successfully earn your degree.
- Tuition-free attendance and general fees at York College for 4 years
- Enhanced academic support through academic advising
- Work-study employment opportunities
- Specialized programming designed to enhance academic, professional, social, and interpersonal development
- Engagement in the community through service-based volunteerism
- Students will be full-time, first-time students from York County.
- Students must have graduated from a York County high school in good standing, or have been homeschooled in York County, with at least a 2.5 high school GPA.
- Students must enroll at York College in the fall immediately following their high school graduation.
- Students must be residential students, on campus, during their four years of college, and enrollment must be continuous every regular term.
- Students must come from families whose Adjusted Gross Family Income, as indicated on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), is $75,000 or less and eligible for a Pell Grant award.
- Published tuition and general fees are covered for four years, or a maximum of eight regular terms* (nine terms for appropriate fall clinical nursing students).
- Membership in a cohort model gives students access to a peer network, as well as enhanced support from York College staff in areas like residence life, student success, and community involvement.
Students may use other forms of financial aid to pay for other education-related expenses, including books, housing, meal plans, and other costs of attendance.
*Program fees, course fees, and/or program differential fees are not covered by this award.
The Promise scholarship is awarded for a maximum of four years (8 semesters). To continue to receive the Promise award, scholars are required to:
- Live on campus. Manor Complex will serve as a Living-Learning Community where all scholars are required to live for their first year
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Complete at least 30 credit hours toward degree completion each year
- Maintain full-time, continuous enrollment every regular term
- Complete the Be the Change First-Year Seminar during the fall semester of your first year
- Contribute 20 or more hours of volunteer engagement each academic year (approximately 10/semester) through the Spartan Volunteer Network
- Actively participate in the Promise program, events, and activities
- Remain in good standing (academically, financially, and socially) as a YCP scholar
- Complete all forms, documents, and clearances required by York College
